Low Budget Film Making

In England the number of low budget films with budgets between 500,000 and 30 million GBP has fell from 77 to 60 from 2014 to 2015 which, according to the BFI, is the lowest since 2006. In Hollywood, however, the majority of large studios have been investing billions of dollars into films with very little risk of losing money at the box office which are mainly superhero and franchise movies. The reason behind this is because it has been estimated that these types of large budget films account for 90% of the US box office with lower budget films accounting for 9%.    Studios such as Netflix (that produce both TV shows and movies) have directed their focus to TV shows which can be shown through the statistics in which scripted TV shows have doubled since 2010.
